Welcome! I’m Brenda and my husband is Daniel and we are the owners of Roots and Fruits Homestead. I am the one who creates and Daniel does the bookkeeping
The idea for our business was quietly sparked in 2017. Daniel and I were shopping at the Saturday Market in Portland, Oregon where I came across a vendor selling an item called an Oven Dress. We were engaged at the time, and I was looking for gifts to bring back to my family for Christmas. I purchased two for my grandmother. She displayed them proudly in her home. After she received them, they often held a more important place in her kitchen than her usual holiday towels. She is now deceased, and the oven dresses are mine again. It’s special to have them in my home.
Fast forward to 2023. I went out of my comfort zone and made a button-down shirt for my son. I learned so much from the process! That gave me the extra experience and confidence to try my hand at making an oven dress and I loved it. The quality of my sewing is very important to me. I wanted to make sure I could make a product that looked skillful and handmade, and I’m delighted I can provide that.
My hope is that our products can enrich your home and possibly create memories like the one I have with the oven dresses I gifted to my late grandmother.
